Allergies

Please give us as much information as to the symptoms and seriousness of your child’s reaction.

Allergies – general

If your child requires an EpiPen we ask for them to bring 2 with them so that one can be kept with your child and one safely with our trained Medic. The medics EpiPen should be handed in at departure day.

Antihistamine tablets should be labelled and handed in on departure day.

Please check with a GP or pharmacist how best to store the EpiPens should we have a hot summer.

Environmental Allergies

Please give us as much information as to the symptoms and seriousness of your child’s reaction.

Food Allergies

These are related to true medical conditions rather than food preferences. There are automatically no nuts, meat or un-kosher sea food allowed on any of our events.

It is always helpful to have a medical letter that can be used to organise a food plan in advance. It is better for your child’s socialisation for us to know in advance of the event the range of food and meals that they are able to eat so that when possible we can accommodate their dietary needs within their peers’ meals and our camp menu planning.

Some sites are able to purchase and use specialist foods if told in advance however we will also store specialist foods that you provide.

Please look at our example menu so that you can see the range of foods that we provide on camp. Please be aware that menu is checked by a dietician and advice is given as to the types of food that participants need to eat in order to stay healthy during what are very active events.

Nut Allergies

All of our events have a no nut policy. We send out a reminder to all participants’ parents and leaders advising them of this and reminding them not to bring snacks/confectionary containing nuts.

Special Food

If your child suffers from specific dietary requirements and you are providing special food please pack it appropriately remembering to label it clearly with your child’s name, name of camp and write medical on it. Please then hand it in with other medication on departure day.
